Description

Hannibal Hamlin

American politician (1809–1891) who served as Lincoln’s first vice president. ALS signed “H. Hamlin,” two pages, lightly-lined, 5 x 8, June 6, 1884. Hamlin accepts an invitation from Jonathan M. Fiske of Boston. In part: “Well, Mrs. H. and myself do propose to be at Cambridge on the Class Day of our son Frank on the 20th. It would be little less than a crime for us not to do so, and it will be a pleasure to us both to avail ourselves of your kind invitation, and stop with you at your house. Do not now suppose we will tarry more than two days, but that will afford the opportunity of reviving and talking over the old and pleasant associations. I will endeavor to let you know just when we will reach Boston. Indeed it is quite probably I may see you before that time.” In fine condition, with central horizontal and vertical folds and light toning. RRAuction COA.
