The envelope is clearly postmarked in Dayton, Ohio, on December 17, 1943. Accompanied by the original Christmas card, 5 x 4.75, with Wright’s printed name. A block of light uniform toning to both the card and envelope with small pieces of old tape at the left and right margins of each item. Exactly 40 years earlier, on December 17, 1903, the world’s first power-driven heavier-than-air machine’s first free, controlled, and sustained flight was flown, with Orville as pilot, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
