Truman writes of the sudden passing of his press secretary: “I believe Charlie would have wanted it that way”

TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, December 9, 1950. Letter to Carl Claudy, Executive Secretary of the Masonic Service Association of the United States. In full: “Your letter of sympathy in the death of Charlie Ross is especially comforting to me. My heartfelt thanks for your kind words. Yes, I believe Charlie would have wanted it that way.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Charlie Ross was Truman’s longtime personal friend and press secretary, who died at his desk in the White House on December 5, 1950. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
