Description

Outstanding association as Bogie inscribes to his African Queen wardrobe mistress

Vintage glossy 8 x 10 head-and-shoulders photo of Bogart in a jacket and bow tie, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint “For Vi, Many thanks, Bogie.” The photo’s recipient, Violet Murray, was a longtime wardrobe mistress who worked on over 20 films during the 1950s and 1960s, including The African Queen and The Lion in Winter. In good to very good condition, with signature and inscription light, but legible, light contrast to signature, scattered creasing and surface marks, heavier to edges, light toning and dings to edges. A rare and wonderful tie-in between Bogart and the film that won him the only Academy Award of his famed career. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
