Description

“I’ve always opposed the idea of gambling as a source of government revenue. Lately, however, I’ve been having some second or even third thoughts”

TLS as president signed “Ron,” one page, 6.75 x 9, White House letterhead, February 18, 1986. President Reagan writes Ward L. Quaal of Chicago. In full: “It must be ESP. Like you, with something of the same religious upbringing, I’ve always opposed the idea of gambling as a source of government revenue. Lately, however, I’ve been having some second or even third thoughts. Therefore, I’m very appreciative of the clipping you sent as well as your Jefferson quote—it’s one I hadn’t heard before.” In fine condition, with central horizontal fold and a tiny strip of toning at the bottom edge. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
