Uncommon signature of the most influential British thinker of the mid-Victorian period

British philosopher and civil servant (1806–1873) who was an influential contributor to social theory, political theory, and political economy. Rare ink signature, “I am, Very truly yrs, J. S. Mill,” on an off-white 4.25 x 2 slip. Slip is affixed to the front of a slightly larger envelope. Some scattered light toning and soiling, and pencil notations to lower left, otherwise fine condition. Scarce in any form. RRAuction COA.
