Endorsed check, 6 x 2.75, filled out and signed in another hand, payable to Salinger for $156.30, August 13, 1973. Endorsed on the reverse in red ink, “For Deposit Only, J. D. Salinger.” Light haloing to writing on front of the check, as well as Salinger’s endorsement, expected bank stamps, scattered soiling, and some light rippling from damp staining lightly affecting portions of signature, otherwise very good condition. The check is from a Claremont, New Hampshire woodsman who logged Salinger’s property in the 1970s and paid Salinger for the wood. This is only the second Salinger check we have ever seen.
