“The most important discovery of this century was that of the ‘Pill’ by Gregory Pincus”

American biochemist (1891–1987) who won, with James Batcheller Sumner and Wendell Meredith Stanley, the 1946 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. ALS, one page, 6.25 x 9, personal letterhead, May 20. Brief letter reads, in full: “The most important discovery of this century was that of the ‘Pill’ by Gregory Pincus.” In fine condition, with a horizontal mailing fold affecting tops of a few letters of signature.
