Ruth pays his taxes in his first year out of baseball

Personal check, 8.5 x 3, filled out in another hand and signed by Ruth, “G. H. Ruth,” payable to U. S. Collector of Internal Revenue for $892.39, December 14, 1936. In fine condition, with expected cancellation holes and stamps, one lightly touching the last couple letters of signature. Ruth had been promised the manager’s job for the Boston Braves in 1936, but retired the year before. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
