Revolutionary War-dated Patrick Henry pay order

American patriot (1736–1799) best remembered for his stirring, historic declaration, ‘Give me liberty or give me death.’ Revolutionary War-dated manuscript DS, signed “P. Henry,” one page both sides, 7.25 x 2.25, June 3, 1777. Document reads, “Received One hundred and Ten Pounds being the balance of my Salary due the 29th March last for the third Quaterly Payment.” Double matted and framed (so both sides may be viewed, the reverse being a receipt for expenses for a British prisoner) with an engraved portrait, to an overall size of 13.5 x 15. In good condition, with text of signed side light, but legible, scattered toning and soiling, several repaired tears, and some scattered light surface loss to edges.
