A matinee idol of the stage and early silent movie era (1870–1944), probably best-known for his role as Major Amberson in Welles's motion picture adaptation of The Magnificent Ambersons. Vintage 8 x 10 Paramount 1934 publicity head-and-shoulders photo, signed and inscribed in-person in fountain pen “To Saul, Richard Bennett.” Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of October 12, 1935, the date the signature was acquired. In fine condition, with a few scattered light surface creases. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
