TLS, one page, 5 x 8.25, White House letterhead, August 18, 1924. Mrs. Coolidge writes Ernest S. Leland of the Presbrey-Leland Company in New York City to discuss construction of a monument. In full: "I have the two samples of granite. You sent the light Barre granite and I think I prefer the dark Barre granite if I decide upon Barre granite. Is not that harder than the light? I sent the designs which you left with me to my Mother. She favors design 'A' because because she thinks that was the style which Father liked. She thinks 'C2' a little heavy for the lot. Will you give me an estimate of the time it would require to build the monument and when you would probably be able to place it if ordered at once? Is there a monument of the dark Barre granite in Washington?" In fine condition, with slight wrinkling and a small tear at the top edge with an old tape repair.
