LS, signed 'Benjamin Harrison,' two pages, 4.75 x 7.75, personal letterhead, November 7, 1895. Harrison writes to H. M. West in Schenectady. In full: 'I have been so engaged in a case in the Supreme Court of the state here and another in the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals at Chicago that my mail has necessarily been unattended to. I beg to thank you for your invitation to meet with the brethren of the Phi Delta Theta, at their banquet on the evening of November 1st, and though the time is now past, I write to acknowledge your courtesy and to express my regret that I was not able to be present.' Light scattered soiling, light transfer of letterhead to bottom portion of letter, and a repair to a short edge separation at mailing fold, otherwise fine condition.
