In full: 'I am just come to town when I seldom come where my stay is very short. You were so good as to promise last winter that you would make us a visit this summer. If you can go down this evening, you mite [sic] let me know when I may wait on you at your house to take you down with me. If you cannot for the present, I am to let you know that our friend Dr. Morris proposes to make us a visit on Friday…I have been long professing this satisfaction but one unlucky matter or other has always broke in upon it.'
