Description

Norwegian explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian, and Nobel laureate (1861-1930) who led the first crossing of the Greenland interior in 1888. TLS, one page, 9 x 11, August 3, 1904. Letter to a gentleman in Minnesota. In full: “I am sorry to inform you that I shall probably not be able to go to the World’s Fair at St. Louis, as I have too much work here, and that I shall not be able to meet your wishes with regard to lectures in Minnesota and the Northwestern States.” Partial separations to central horizontal and vertical folds, several blocks of toning, one affecting first name of signature, corner creases, and small tape remnants to corners, otherwise very good condition.
