Description

Vivid and iconic Hemingway image on the safari that inspired numerous literary works

Superb crystal-clear vintage matte-finish 11.75 x 9.5 photo of Hemingway posing with a lion he brought down on safari in January of 1934, signed and inscribed in black ink “To Lynn Bogue Hunt, with very best wishes from his friend, Ernest Hemingway.” In fine, clean condition, tastefully trimmed from a slightly larger size, with adhesive remnants on reverse, affecting nothing.

An incredible image of Hemingway—the Great White Hunter—taken on safari in Tanganyika. It was excursions such as this that inspired Papa to write such works as Green Hills of Africa, True at First Light, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, and The Snows of Kilimanjaro. This iconic image is perfect Hemingway—in his prime and on safari on the Serengeti Plain with a gorgeous signature. All of the elements of a perfect piece! Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
