Description

Lindbergh signs for a young woman who witnessed his historic flight 15 years earlier

Fountain pen signature, “Charles A. Lindbergh. Mar 13, 1942, L.I.A.C.C.,” on an off-white 4.25 x 4 sheet. Smearing to the words (explained below), wrinkling to the paper, and trimmed edges, otherwise fine condition. According to the consignor, she witnessed Lucky Lindy take flight for Paris in 1927, and by 1942 was working as a chamber maid and waitress at the Long Island Aviation Country Club in Hicksville, New York, when she approached him for this autograph. Her husband, wanting to verify the signature’s authenticity, moistened his thumb and wiped it across the page leaving the smudge. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the original recipient and a CD of photos of the country club. Fantastic provenance! Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
