Prolific American character actor (1892–1962) who was the first performer to win an Oscar (for his supporting role in Stagecoach), an Emmy, and a Tony. His most familiar roles are probably those of Scarlett O’Hara’s father in Gone With the Wind and Uncle Billy in the classic It’s a Wonderful Life. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 Paramount Pictures publicity photo from 1937, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Ed, Best wishes, Thomas Mitchell.” In very good condition, with scattered creases, marks and surface dings, and a small chip to top left edge.
