TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, United States Senate letterhead, January 17, 1951. Letter to Walter Winchell. In part: 'I confirmed with the officials here that the SS Nestos was destined for Calcutta -- not Canton. It contained commodities purchased by the Indian Supply Mission on Washington, and as far as I can learn, the cargo couldn’t possibly get into Communist hands.' In fine condition, with horizontal fold affecting bottom portions of a few letters of signature, staple hole to top left, and a couple stray pencil lines.
