Madison land grant issued shortly after the start of the War of 1812

Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 14.5 x 10, July 18, 1812. President Madison grants a parcel of land to Jacob Humbert of Virginia under an “Act of Congress entitled ‘An Act providing for the sale of the Lands of the United States in the territory north-west of the Ohio and above the mouth of the Kentucky River.’” Signed at the conclusion by Madison, and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office Edward Tiffin. Intersecting folds, Madison’s signature several shades light, with a few letters of last name very faint, scattered moderate toning and soiling, and several small notations, otherwise very good condition. The white wafer seal is toned and worn, but intact. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
