A black Scripto "Classic" 1.1mm lead mechanical pencil, 5.5 inches long, marked "PROPERTY U.S. GOVERNMENT" on the barrel, carried by John Young aboard the Gemini X mission. The top is Velcro-wrapped and no eraser is present. The printed NASA numbers on the barrel are only slightly visible and illegible. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the consignor stating that this pencil was part of a group of Young’s flight-flown items originally purchased at Heritage Auctions in April of 2009. Flight-flown items of personal equipment from Gemini missions are very rare. RRAuction COA.
