American lawyer and statesman (1746–1825) who was a delegate to the 1787 Constitutional Convention, four term South Carolina governor, and member of congress. He ran unsuccessfully as the Federalist candidate for vice-president in 1800 and for president in 1804 and 1808. Partly-printed DS, two pages, 10.5 x 6, January 4, 1790. Partial document regarding 103 acres of land, signed across the bottom by Pinckney. Document is affixed to a larger board and framed to an overall size of 13 x 9.
