Brought Dracula to the masses

Playwright who adapted Dracula as a 1924 stage play from the novel of the same name by Bram Stoker, and subsequently revised by John L. Balderston. It was the first adaptation of the novel authorized by Stoker's widow, and has influenced many subsequent adaptations. The classic 1931 film version drew on the Deane-Balderston play. ALS, one page, 5.5 x 7, December 30, 1948. Letter to an admirer. In part: “I received your letter…Are you collecting autographs & what made you express a wish to have mine? Whatever motive prompted you—here it is, with pleasure.” In fine condition, with small edge separations to folds, a couple brushes to text, and some mild toning along top edge. RRAuction COA.
