President Taft signs a distinguished Harris and Ewing portrait

Vintage matte-finish 7 x 10 Harris and Ewing portrait, signed and inscribed in fountain pen in the lower border, as president, “For Captain Hagood, with best wishes of Wm. H. Taft, Feb 10, 1910.” Photo is affixed to a 10 x 13.5 lightweight mount. In fine condition, with an embossed Harris and Ewing copyright stamp to lower left of image, a couple mild ripples, and a bit of trivial soiling to lower border. Johnson Hagood (1873-1948) was commissioned in the artillery, and served in France in World War I, where he created the Services of Supply. His decorations include include the Distinguished Service Medal and Commander of the Légion d'honneur. A crystal clear and well-preserved presidential portrait.
