In part: “My present eye condition will explain my poor writing & also the fact that I haven’t written you for such a long time…I hope you had a restful & happy holiday…Of course you know what a poor year and a half I have had, topped with the eye operation on Oct. 25 and the long healing process delayed by a month of miserable sinus, the worse possible on top of a cataract operation - but there seems light ahead, which means glasses…Of course I saw Marion, and Grover, and Francis…My! Those children are working hard on their chicken proposition. I had such a good time with them the last month…and got very attached to the hundreds of chickens.” In fine condition.
