Laura Ingalls

American aviatrix (1901–1967) who set a number of notable aviation records in the 1930s. Accused of being a spy under the provisions of the 1938 Foreign Agents Registration Act, she was jailed for more than a year in 1942–43. Despite the support of such notables as Eddie Rickenbacker, Ingalls was never pardoned. Mailing envelope, 6.5 x 3.75, addressed in type to Walter Conrath of the Albion News, signed in black ink in the upper left corner, “Laura Ingalls.” Underneath her signature is written: “From: Los Angeles to New York; Time 13 hr. 34 mins. Sept 12, 1935; Distance: 2543 - Non-stop; Plane: Orion NR14222.” Envelope also bears a September 16, New York, postmark. In fine condition, with a uniform shade of toning, and a bit of trivial soiling. RRAuction COA.
