Adams and Clay signed ship’s pass

Scalloped-top vellum partly-printed DS, one page, 11 x 15, January 7, 1828. Ship’s pass issued to “the Ship Orbit of New York, Samuel M. Woodbury master and commander…mounted with two guns navigated with nine men.” Signed at the conclusion by Adams and countersigned by Clay. Document has been mounted and double matted and framed (no glass), with portraits of Adams and Clay, to an overall size of 31 x 22. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of Clay’s signature, some scattered light soiling, Adams’s signature a shade or two light, but completely legible, and light mirroring of text. An uncommon pairing of two important politicians. Oversized. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
