In part: “I have not had the good fortune to be able to render any services to that gentleman…The infirm state of Mrs. Everett’s health & the circumstances that our married daughter was daily expecting her confinement put it out of my power to offer to Mr. & Miss Holt those attentions.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, scattered light creases, and a small spot to first page.
