Oldest daughter of English novelist Charles Dickens. Partly-printed DS, two pages both sides, 8 x 12.75, August 13, 1879. Original handwritten contract in which Dickens’ daughter, Mary Dickens, and sister -in-law Georgina Hogarth, agree to have Frederick Chapman publish The Letters of Charles Dickens in two volumes. In part: “The first edition of the Work of 2000 copies to be delivered for sale to the said Frederick Chapman by the said Mary Dickens and Georgina Hogarth the selling price of each copy is one pound ten shillings.” In very good condition, with few small holes, mild soiling, and a block of toning to the lower quarter of the first page.
