Cute vintage 9.5 x 7.5 photo of Temple posing in front of a house with J. Edgar Hoover, Clyde Tolson, Ugo Carusi, and several other gentlemen, all flashing what must be Shirley Temple police badges, signed in fountain pen, “Love, Shirley Temple,” and also signed by Hoover, Tolson, Carusi, and one other. Lightly trimmed edges, Hoover’s signature light, but mostly legible, and some mild rippling and soiling to left side, otherwise fine condition. During the filming of Heidi, director Allan Dwan recognized Shirley's ability to control things in his absence, particularly the other children, and had a supply of badges for the Shirley Temple Police Force made for issue. A badge was issued to J. Edgar Hoover in September of 1937, who in return gave Shirley his autograph. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
