Description

Unique limited edition flight-flown “Earth Our Cradle” beta cloth

Copy number 9/50 mission emblem, 9 x 8.75, from the unique Apollo 14 flown limited edition entitled “Earth Our Cradle.” Flown to lunar orbit aboard the Apollo 14 Command Module ‘Kittyhawk’ where it then orbited the moon 34 times before returning to earth. The center of the Beta cloth bears the Apollo 14 mission emblem which was silk-screened on before the flight, and the text for “Earth our Cradle” which was silk-screened on after the flight to create the limited edition. In fine condition. Professionally and removably shrink wrapped on acid free board. Accompanied by a signed illustrated letter of provenance from Mitchell, which reads, in part: “Prior to the launch of Apollo 14, our crew’s mission patch was ‘silk-screened’ onto a small quantity of nine-square inch sections of white fireproof ‘Beta Cloth’…In August 2008, I participated in the creation of a unique limited edition entitled ‘Earth Our Cradle’ that utilized fifty of my Apollo ‘Beta Cloth’ mission patches. This may well be the very first time to date that an astronaut-approved limited edition has ever been created from a complete lunar artifact.” Pre-certified Scott Cornish and RRAuction COA.
