Union general (1832–1895) who participated in General Sherman’s March to the Sea and was responsible for much of the lighthouse construction on the Great Lakes. Partial DS, signed “Capt. O. M. Poe,” one page both sides, 7.75 x 10.5, July 1864. Expenditures statement signed on the reverse by Poe as a member of the Army Corps of Engineers.
