Description

Dwight D. Eisenhower

Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of Ike seated at his desk circa 1946 as the US Army’s chief of staff, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Gen. Claude Thiele, with best wishes, and deep appreciation of his splendid war service. From his friend, Dwight D. Eisenhower.” In very good condition, with creased top right corner and light horizontal crease across his chest, surface scratch touching the side of his forehead, old tape from past mounting touching the last stroke of his name, paper loss at the bottom left corner, and silvering to the darker areas (most prevalent along the horizontal creases). It is unusual to find an image with such a lengthy and personal sentiment, with this example presented to the antiaircraft artillery commanding officer for the European Theater of Operations. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
