Tyler hastily seeks employment for a former politician’s family “in much distress”

ALS as president, one page, 7 x 8.25, June 30, 1842. Letter to Dr. Reed seeking a position for a former mayor’s son-in-law. In full: “Will you, if you can give some employment to Mr. John Addison which will enable him to get his wife and family to St. Louis. If you cannot provide for him yourself do get him into some other place under some other public officer. His wife, who is the daughter of a former most popular Mayor of this City is in much distress. I write you in much haste.” Archivally double matted and framed with a portrait of Tyler and a name plaque to an overall size of 20.25 x 16. In fine condition, with intersecting folds, two lightly affecting just a few letters of signature, and a few trivial wrinkles. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
