Description

Shunned by the tennis world, a legend compliments an old friend of the game

ALS signed “Bill,” one page both sides, 7.25 x 10.5, no date. Tilden writes Private Art Anderson, a long-time pupil and friend. In part: “I enjoyed every minute with you & I certainly thought you played the finest tennis I seen (sic) you play. It was great. Our racquets are here & I think you will appreciate them. The handles feel swell & the ballance (sic) too. I think I’ll keep them until you come down next week but if you need them phone me & I’ll mail them at once…I hope you get some good tennis with the ‘Lieuts’ and they will work on the Captain to get your tennis classes.” In fine condition, with writing showing through from opposing sides and a PSA/DNA authentication label affixed to the lower corner of the back page. Accompanied by the original mailing enveloped, addressed by Tilden, and a certificate of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Great tennis comments from the scandalized player. RRAuction COA.
