Description

On Ford’s pardon of Nixon: “I am afraid that his action will serve to keep Watergate in the front of the public controversy”

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Law School of Harvard University letterhead, September 27, 1974. Letter to an admirer. In part: “Since you wrote your letter, President Ford has pardoned former President Nixon. I am afraid that his action will serve to keep Watergate in the front of the public controversy much longer than would have happened if the normal process of justice had been allowed to prevail. My objections to the issuance of a pardon are stated in a press statement which I put out in answer to the inquiries.” In fine condition. RRAuction COA.
