Born Count Barnaba Niccolò Maria Luigi Chiaramonti, Pope from 1800-1823. Manuscript DS, in Italian, signed “Pius PP. VII,” one page, 6.25 x 5.5, September 20, 1804. Very nicely penned untranslated document, signed at the conclusion as Pope. Suede matted and framed with a color portrait of Pius, and a color portrait of Pius at Napoleon’s coronation, to an overall size of 28 x 16.25. In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and Pius’s signature a shade or two lighter than the text. The red wax seal is cracked, but mostly intact.
