Description

Robert Louis Stevenson

Scottish essayist, novelist, and poet. Well-known for his adventure stories Kidnapped and Treasure Island, and for the startling tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Partly-printed DS, signed “R.L. Stevenson,” one page, 5 x 3.25, October 1, 1892. From Vailima, Stevenson authorizes payment of “the sum of nine (9/) shillings) to H.J. Moors.” In very good to fine condition, with vertical folds, scattered toning and soiling, and two tiny holes. Moors (1854–1936) was a Detroit-born author who befriended Stevenson and wrote a memoir titled With Stevenson in Samoa. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
