Description

“To be up there on the trapeze platform caused me to give the most realistic performance of my career!”

Detailed TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, April 17, 1956. Lollobrigida writes the theater editor of the Evening Press in Portland, Maine, about an upcoming film, her experiences working with two legends, and a possible visit. In part: “If I make it, then consider this a calling card in keeping with my anxiety to meet the many Americans who have been so kind to me. If I do not, then this represents as much of me as I can manage at this time. I did want to tell you myself of some of the thrilling experiences I had working with Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis in my first American film, ‘Trapeze.’…I must confess that knowing I was soon to be up there on the trapeze platform caused me to give the most realistic performance of my career!” In fine condition, with a light crease near the bottom half passing through her name, and minor soiling at the bottom edge. Choice content! Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
