Black-bordered free franked envelope, 4.5 x 3, addressed in Tyler’s hand to “Alexander Gardiner Esq., 43 Lafayette Place, New York,” and franked in the upper right “J. Tyler, Free.” Envelope is affixed to a larger sheet with a small clipped photo and a ten cent postage stamp, which is in turn double matted and framed with a color portrait of Tyler to an overall size of 16 x 11.75.
