Description

Vintage Dick Tracy sketch inscribed for a Detroit cop with exceptional provenance

Original vintage signed and inscribed ink and watercolor sketch of Dick Tracy on an off-white 8 x 10 card, with a voice balloon coming from Tracy reading, “Hi Louie! You’ve got a better ‘gallery’ than I have!,” and signed and inscribed “To Patrolman Louis L. Schlosser Jr., A great officer and a swell guy! Our best wishes Louie! Chester Gould.” Affixed on the reverse of the sketch is a clipped newspaper article from the August 28, 1953 edition of the Chicago Daily Tribune reporting on the police honoring Gould, and mentioning a meeting between Schlosser and Gould, who met him at the train station, and referring to Schlosser as “Detroit’s premiere autograph collector,” as well as an original photo of Gould posing with Schlosser. In very fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
