American statesman (1745–1829) who served variously as President of the Continental Congress, diplomat, co-author of the Federalist Papers, and, from 1789 to 1795, first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Ink signature, “John Jay,” on an off-white slip. Nicely suede matted and framed with a biographical plaque and a portrait of Jay, to an overall size of 20.25 x 15.5. In fine condition.
