The “Cleopatra of the Secession,” Boyd was a Confederate spy in the American Civil War (1844-1900). She operated from her father's hotel in Virginia and provided valuable information to Confederate general Stonewall Jackson in 1862. Rare ink signature, “Yours truly, Belle Boyd, Va,” on an off-white 4.75 x 7.5 album page. In fine condition, with small pencil notation under signature, some mild toning, and a trimmed right edge.
