The killer of John Wilkes Booth

Union army sergeant who shot assassin John Wilkes Booth as the murderer’s figure passed a crack in the wall of a burning barn on Richard Garrett’s farm in Virginia. Rare ink signature, “Boston Corbett, Sergt., Co. L., 16th NY Cav,” on an off-white 4.5 x 1.5 slip. Irregular edges, pencil notation to bottom edge, some scattered light toning, and a trivial brush to last part of signature, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
