Glossy 10 x 8 photo of NASA’s Group Three astronauts, signed in felt tip and ink by eight: Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin, Walt Cunningham, Dave Scott, Dick Gordon, Alan Bean, Gene Cernan, Rusty Schweikart, and Dave Scott. Gordon’s signature very light, but mostly legible, light contrast to portion of Cernan’s signature, and some light spotting to finish of bottom portion, not affecting any signatures, otherwise fine condition.
This was the third group of astronauts selected by NASA; their selection was announced in October 1963. Fourteen astronauts comprised Group 3, but four died in training accidents before they could fly in space. All of the surviving ten flew in the Apollo program; five also flew Gemini missions. Four—Aldrin, Bean, Cernan, and Scott—would go on to walk on the Moon. A truly unusual and uncommon photo from the dawn of the space program. Pre-certified Scott Cornish and RRAuction COA.
