Highly regarded German conductor (1886–1944) who became embroiled in controversy with the rise of the Third Reich. Though vehemently anti-Hitler, he was widely viewed as a Nazi sympathizer, which severely impacted his career. TLS in German, one page, 8.75 x 7, no date. Untranslated letter to a gentleman about his concerts which doesn’t enable him to find free time for musical cooperation. Boldly signed at the conclusion in black ink by Furtwängler, and dated in another hand at the lower left 1925. In fine condition, with trimmed lower edge, a mild overall shade of toning, and bisecting folds, one through a single letter of signature. Boldly signed item with desirable musical reference.
