Description

“Mr. Rhythm” signs at the dawn of his meteoric career

Early program for a 1956 personal appearance, “Country Music’s Mr. Rhythm,” 8.5 x 11, signed and inscribed in ink on his back cover photo, “To Bettie, Love ya, Elvis Presley.” June Carter has also signed and inscribed her interior photo. Faint water staining to lower portion of program (only subtly visible on back cover) and mild rippling and soiling, otherwise fine condition.

This exciting full-size eight-page “Souvenir Picture Album” contains four vintage Elvis shots: two formal poses, one of the young star being mobbed by fans, and one onstage. The text places the appearance shortly after Colonel Tom Parker became Elvis’ manager and Sun Records sold his contract to RCA (1955). Still called “Country Music’s ‘Mr. Rhythm’,” Elvis would soon record his crossover smash, “Heartbreak Hotel.” An incredibly rich piece of Elvis history, the program also features fabulous photos of other country greats. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
