ALS in German, signed "J. Brahms," one page both sides, 5.25 x 6.75, no date. Brahms writes to an unknown professor, in full: "Cordial thanks for your friendly invitation. The only thing is, mid-January I will probably be in Germany and I have no idea when I'll be coming back. I therefore can't promise anything. But I'd like to tell you confidentially that I'd rather spend a few spring days in your lovely city, even if I don't get to hear any music!" In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered creasing, lightly affecting signature, two small holes, neither affecting text, and some scattered light soiling, foxing, and toning. An enjoyable glimpse into Brahms' lighter side! Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
