Description

Randy Turpin

Troubled British boxer who took the middleweight title from Sugar Ray Robinson in 1951 (then lost it two months later in a rematch). Turpin committed suicide in 1966 after first shooting his two-year-old daughter to death. Ballpoint signature, “Best wishes, yours in sport, Randy Turpin, 1951,” on an off-white 5.5 x 3.25 postal card affixed to a same sized sheet. In very good condition, with faint postal cancellations at upper portion, scattered light soiling and adhesive remnants, and light creasing from mounting.
