Partly printed DS as President, one page, 16 x 20, July 22, 1869. A commission for John M. Hawley as an ensign in the Navy. Hawley later headed the U.S. Navy’s recruiting department. Countersigned by Secretary of the Navy George Robeson. The blue embossed seal remains intact and slightly worn. A hint of subtle handling wear and a bit of scattered mild toning, otherwise fine, bright condition. Rarely found without storage folds, and an especially fresh, handsome example!
